Section A — Multiple Choice Questions (10 marks)
Q1. B. 6

12 = 2² × 3 and 18 = 2 × 3²; HCF = 2 × 3 = 6.

Q2. B. 5

Sum of zeros = −b/a = 5 (the zeros are 2 and 3).

Q3. B. 3

Adding the equations gives 2x = 6, so x = 3 (and y = 2).

Q4. A. 0

D = b² − 4ac = 16 − 16 = 0; the roots are real and equal.

Q5. B. 29

a₁₀ = 2 + 9 × 3 = 29.

Q6. C. 5

√(3² + 4²) = 5.

Q7. C. √3

Q8. B. 1/13

There are 4 aces in 52 cards: 4/52 = 1/13.

Q9. A. 6π cm²

Area = (θ/360) × πr² = (1/6) × 36π = 6π cm².

Q10. B. 3

3 occurs most often (three times).

Q21. x = 3, y = 1
  1. Add the equations: 3x = 9, so x = 3.
  2. From x − y = 2: y = 1. Check: 2 × 3 + 1 = 7 ✓.
Q22. 155
  1. a = 2, d = 3, n = 10.
